1. What are school hours?
  2. School starts at 8:15 a.m. and ends at 2:40 p.m. Please plan to arrive at 8:15 a.m. so your child is ready to go upstairs to their classroom on time. It is especially important that children come to school every day on time. We enforce punctuality.

The entrance for our school is on 183rd Street between Wadsworth and St. Nicholas Avenues.

  3. Does Dos Puentes have a uniform?
  4. Yes. Our uniform is khaki pants, shorts, jumpers, or skirts, with a white or navy polo shirt or button-down shirt. Children may also wear a navy sweater when the weather is cool. Children may wear gray yoga pants or gray sweatpants on days they have dance or physical education. Comfortable shoes are suggested.

We have a uniform to distinguish our children from other students who attend the elementary school we are co-located with in the building. It also helps to build a sense of school community!

  5. How does school breakfast and lunch work?
  6. Breakfast and lunch are FREE for ALL children.

You may drop your child off at the school cafeteria between 7:30 a.m. and 7:55 a.m. After 8 a.m. children will not be served breakfast. School lunch will be served and is free. If you want to send your child to school with a packed lunch, we encourage healthy eating! PLEASE, no candy, soda, chips, or breakable bottles!

You can find this month's lunch menu here.

  7. Is there an afterschool program?
  8. There are several after school options available to Dos Puentes students:

    • Dos Puentes partners with Childrens Arts and Science Workshop afterschool program, located on-site. This program is available to all families Monday-Friday until 5:30pm. It includes enrichment programs and homework help. It is a paid program but many scholarships are available to create access for all children. Children’s Arts and Science Workshop

  9. Can my child take the school bus?
  10. The NYC Department of Education provides transportation to children in District 6 who live beyond the catchment area. Students are provided a Metro Card, or they can ride the bus if they live along the route. One bus route goes south of the school and the other bus travels north of the school. To learn more about the bus routes and pick-up and drop-off times, please contact the school office.
